Where can I find the value of foreign Coins online?
I have some coins from the early 90’s from Spain and France and the Netherlands. I was wondering if there was a place online to search for their value (if there is any!). I’m able to find information on them but not if they’re worth anything now. Is there a place online to go or should I just head into a Coin Collector? (and, if I do go to a collector, do they charge anything?)
I think it would be better to take them to a collector or a coin dealer because they can visually see them and give you a more accurate price on the value of them. They may charge and they may not. I would call around and ask if they charge anything to do it. They may have to put them under a magnifier before they can tell you if they’re worth anything. Good luck.

Trust Is the Coin of the Realm By Thompson, Edwina $56.23 Trust is the Coin of the Realm shines a rare light into the labyrinth of Afghanistans money men and their influential informal economy that links the Islamic world. Hawala is the ancient financial system that predates Muhammad, and provides a vital key to engaging with many of the worlds traditional cultures. Stereotyped as built for terrorism and a dangerous pipeline for dirty money in the wake of 9/11, Thompson reveals it to be indispensable to the work and reach of humanitarians, donors, familymembers, and the business community. Outsiders striving to build states and peace in crisis countries will find this book invaluable for earning the trust that is essential if their efforts are to make a lasting difference. State of Israel Coins Jonah In The Whale Gold Coin $4591.93 Jonah the Prophet was commanded by the Lord to go from the Land of Israel to the city of Nineveh (thought to be Mosul in Iraq today) to warn its people to repent for their evil ways lest their city be destroyed. Jonah however chose to flee from his mission by boarding a ship bound for Tarshish (thought to be Spain today). When a violent storm arose the ship s crew believed that one of the passengers was responsible and cast lots to determine who it could be. The lot fell on Jonah who admitted his guilt and was cast into the sea which then calmed down. Meanwhile a big fish thought to be a whale swallowed up Jonah into its belly where he remained for three days and three nights. From the belly of the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord and was saved when the fish spat him out on the shore. He then understood he was destined to go to Nineveh as he had been commanded. The King and the people of Nineveh repented and were subsequently saved. The coin design of Jonah in the whale is inspired by the Chinese Yin Yang philosophy. Obverse:. 2011 Washington Olympic National Park Quarter P Mint $1.99 Olympic National Park protects snow-capped mountains at dizzying altitudes, acres of rain forests, and miles of sandy Pacific shoreline; it is a national park of Olympic proportions. On the reverse of the 2011 quarter, a Roosevelt elk dips its forelegs in the Hoh River as it winds its way from Mount Olympus, pictured in the background. Also printed on the edges of the coin are the words OLYMPIC, WASHINGTON, 2011, and E PLURIBUS UNUM. As circulated quarters continue to be difficult to find, these collections will become a premium item. Uncirculated State Quarters are a rare find and continue to climb in value and demand. Quarter prices are subject to change without notice. |

It has been justly objected to New England society, that it is too serious and prosaic. It cannot take a joke. It demands the reason of all things, or their value in the current coin of the land. It is nervous, fidgety, unre- posing, full of trouble. Striving hard to make even religion a torment, it clothes in purple and fine linen its apostles of despair. Business is followed with such a devouring intensity of purpose, that it results as often in dyspepsia as in wealth. We are so overcome with the serious side of things, that our souls rarely come out in irrepressible streams of merriment. The venerable King Cole would find few subjects here to acknowledge his monarchy of mirth. In the foppery of our utilitarianism, we would frown down all recreations which have- not a logical connection with mental improvement or purse improvement. Toward an Anthropological Theory of Value: The False Coin of Our Own Dreams $37 This innovative book is the first comprehensive synthesis of economic, political, and cultural theories of value. David Graeber reexamines a century of anthropological thought about value and exchange, in large measure to find a way out of quandaries in current social theory, which have become critical at the present moment of ideological collapse in the face of Neoliberalism. Rooted in an engaged, dynamic realism, Graeber argues that projects of cultural comparison are in a sense necessarily revolutionary projects: He attempts to synthesize the best insights of Karl Marx and Marcel Mauss, arguing that these figures represent two extreme, but ultimately complementary, possibilities in the shape such a project might take. Graeber breathes new life into the classic anthropological texts on exchange, value, and economy. He rethinks the cases of Iroquois wampum, Pacific kula exchanges, and the Kwakiutl potlatch within the flow of world historical processes, and recasts value as a model of human meaning-making, which far exceeds rationalist/reductive economist paradigms.Author Biography: David Graeber teaches anthropology at Yale University. He is currently writing an ethnography of direct action as well as working with the Direct Action Network, People’s Global Action, and Ya Basta!. |

What Worth We May Find $7.95 In following the intertwined lines of six urban-ites, What Worth We May Find focuses on how the intangible commodity of the human spirit is bartered among us. That worth, that crying in the dark for meaning and individuality, is an ancient coin, a pearl of great price. As the tale’s narrator and protagonist discovers, this intangible value cannot be derived in isolation, but in active engagement with one another, giving and receiving in search of a integrous meaning that we can one day call our own. Of this, Mark Browning—the narrator and central figure of What Worth—knows full well. The pages of the book are his purgation, his often self-conscious, sometimes overly-dramatic, but always honest reflections of what he calls, “the most generative six months of my life.” A half-year where the detailed events matter substantially less than the concurrent themes t hat they expose. In part, the story relates how Mark came to know Alex Matthews, her pristine flower shop, The Naked Daisies, and her revolving circle of influence including such disparate characters as The Woman Who Always Buys Hydrangeas, The Lesbians, and Garrett and the Attachment. But as with all linear narratives, the events that transpire only serve to tell a small portion of the story. Along the way, the intersections of Mark, Alex and their associations find their stories unraveled and worn bare. Worn, that is, until the worth can be found. This book–in exposing Mark’s buried meaning–shows how until our bartered value is unearthed, erected strong and true, we are always beholden to others. Like Mark’s great lesson from the socialite Alex Matthews, we are always found owing to the nearest heroes and fiends, the nameless faces that press in, until something of worth can hold them all at bay. |
